Review Analysis: TotalFilm

The review begins with the title and rating of the film. This is to quickly let the audience know how highly the reviewer has rated the film.

There is then a shot plot overview detailed enough to explain what's going on.

The review is kept short because too many words will put off an audience. This is why reviews include a verdict; it allows readers who aren't interested in reading the review to find out the general opinion of the film. There is a screen shot and a trailer of the film. A trailer is not just to advertise the film but also to give the audience a sense of what the film will be like.

I am going to use the rating stars and the screenshot from the film in my review

  • Produce a film review from a magazine which would be my target readership. (for example: timeout or empire)
  • Annotate the layout and structure of a review, focusing on the vocabulary used, where the image is places, institutional information, how the film is reviewed itself. Mirror an existing review in my own production.
  • Annotated review from time out and one from Empire.

Thoughts and opinions from others on the two different fonts

80% of people asked so far have said they prefer the right because it fits the story more but the general opinion was that the font should be bigger because it would be clearer and easier to read.
